What Is EOTAS?

EOTAS — Education Other Than At School — is education provided for children and young people who, for whatever reason, cannot attend a mainstream or special school. Local authorities have a legal duty under Section 19 of the Education Act 1996 to arrange suitable education for these young people.

Player Ready delivers EOTAS provision across Brighton & Hove primarily through our online 1:1 mentoring programme, with the option of attending our nearest venue. We use gaming and technology — Minecraft, Roblox, coding, and digital creativity — as the foundation for personalised education.

Our approach is part-time (up to 15 hours per week for under-16s) and designed to complement other support. We are not a school. We offer something different — and for many young people, that's exactly what works.

EOTAS Provision in Brighton & Hove

Player Ready Level-Up! is a Brighton & Hove City Council quality assured alternative provision provider, approved in November 2024. We specialise in supporting children and young people who are unable to access mainstream education or are on limited school timetables.

While we are actively seeking a venue for future Brighton in-person provision, we currently offer comprehensive online alternative provision. Our sessions combine specialised support in emotional well-being, mental health, and SEND with technology — coding, robotics, VR, 3D modelling, and digital media skills.

Our online sessions deliver the same quality and structure as in-person, with consistent 1:1 mentoring, progress tracking, and half-termly reports. Students can also access our Portsmouth venue which is reachable from Brighton via the A27 and A3(M).
