EOTAS
in Devon

Devon County Council approved. Education Other Than At School from our Plymouth and Exeter venues.

Approved by Devon County Council since December 2025

What Is EOTAS?

EOTAS — Education Other Than At School — is education provided for children and young people who, for whatever reason, cannot attend a mainstream or special school. Local authorities have a legal duty under Section 19 of the Education Act 1996 to arrange suitable education for these young people.

Player Ready delivers EOTAS provision across Devon through our Plymouth & Exeter venue and online. We use gaming and technology — Minecraft, Roblox, coding, and digital creativity — as the foundation for personalised education.

Our approach is part-time (up to 15 hours per week for under-16s) and designed to complement other support. We are not a school. We offer something different — and for many young people, that's exactly what works.

EOTAS Provision in Devon

Player Ready Level-Up! delivers EOTAS across Devon with venues in Exeter (Marsh Barton, with free parking and easy road links) and Plymouth (near the Barbican Leisure Park). Devon County Council approved us as a provider in December 2025.

Our EOTAS provision is designed for children and young people who cannot attend mainstream school. Sessions involve coding, robotics, VR, 3D modelling, video creation, and other engaging tech-based activities. We work towards EHCP outcomes and produce half-termly reports.

For families across Devon — from Barnstaple and Bideford to Torquay, Torbay, and the South Hams — our online EOTAS programme provides the same quality of mentoring via video call when travel is not possible.

Devon Area Information

Devon's large rural area means many EOTAS students are far from specialist providers. Our two venues — Exeter on Marsh Barton and Plymouth at Lockyers Quay — provide physical access points, while our online programme ensures no Devon family is excluded.

Devon County Council's EOTAS team arranges education for children who cannot attend school due to health needs, anxiety, exclusion, or while awaiting placement. Player Ready is approved to deliver this provision.
