Who are we, and what do we offer?

Player Ready Alternative Provision offers specialised support in emotional well-being, mental health, and SEN, leveraging the engaging world of technology. Our sessions allow us to connect with students in a relatable, mentor-like manner, fostering trust and rapport, which we feel is crucial for effective support. We understand that sometimes, our children and young people really struggle with mainstream school and would benefit more from an alternative, flexible, fun and safe environment.

Our provision is educational but carried out through a child-led lens to ensure it meets their needs. Our sessions involve coding lessons, robotics, Virtual Reality, 3D modeling, video creation/editing, and other tech-based activities in a relaxed, supportive environment. We offer coding lessons that build upon new skills each week resulting in a finished project at the end of each term, which the child or young person can see and play with. We are also committed to working towards educational goals through an EHCP or Education Plan and producing progress reports to contribute to reviews.

Player Ready advocates for education through play and interaction, aiming to meet individual needs while enhancing tech, and creative skills. We believe technology is a comfortable space for children and young people, and we use it as a platform for life skill development and emotional growth. Consistency in regular sessions fosters relationships with their tutors and peers, allowing for genuine connections and making our sessions more than just educational—they are a pathway to confidence, social skills, and personal development, ultimately empowering young minds in a digital age.

We currently have Alternative Provision available in the following venues:

  • Truro (Cornwall)
  • Plymouth (Devon)
  • Exeter (Devon)
  • Taunton (Somerset)
  • Portsmouth (Hampshire)

Alternative Provision at Player Ready is offered Monday through Friday during term time between 09:00 and 15:00.  Sessions during school holidays and outside of these hours may be accommodated by arrangement with stakeholders.  These can be funded as part of an EOTAS, EHCP Provision or Direct Payments. Parents & Guardians can also make arrangements to directly cover the cost of the provision.

Player Ready is currently onboarding as an AQA Unit Award Scheme Centre, so from September 2024 we will soon be able to offer Level 1-3 AQA Unit Awards on a range of our bespoke subjects.

Player Ready Alternative Provision is always tailored to the individual children & young people with outcomes & goals agreed upon with partners such as the young person, school, parents/guardians, and other professionals.

Hybrid

We know that sometimes, due to physical and mental health, accessing face-to-face educational provision can be challenging.
Therefore, when deemed suitable, our tutors and mentors can work in a hybrid environment using tools such as Zoom/Teams to offer remote delivery of our curriculum.
