PLAYER READY FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is VR?

Virtual Reality (VR) is the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment. Unlike traditional user interfaces, VR places the user inside an experience. Instead of viewing a screen in front of them, users are immersed and able to interact with 3D worlds.

Can my kids play Escape Rooms?

YES! We recommend them for 12+ if playing without adults (or older helpers). However we have Escape Rooms suitable for Ages 7+ and leave it to parents to decide whats suitable for their childs age & ability. Our staff are always willing to advise you on your selection.

What if I experience motion sickness or any other side effect while using the system?

We are doing our best to provide experiences that are associated with lower probability of motion sickness. It has been argued that the highest level of motion sickness in VR is associated with VR Rollercoasters and similar experiences. We test all the games ourselves before offering them at Player Ready. We also setup and test all our equipment so it works without causing any motion sickness.

However, as with any motion-related entertainment, some people may be susceptible to unexpected side-effects during the VR session. If you feel unwell at any point please let a member of Player Ready team know and we will be there to help you.

If you are prone to motion sickness we suggest avoiding RACING SIMULATORS and instead using the VR Escape Rooms or Freeroam which has very low rates of motion sickness.

Are there any physical limitations that would prevent me from enjoying the experience?

The optimal VR experience requires users to move their head and neck, and have use of at least one hand to interact with the environment.
Be sure to consult your doctor before visiting us if you have pre-existing serious medical conditions (such as a heart ailment), conditions that affect your ability to safely perform physical activities, psychiatric conditions (such as anxiety disorders or post-traumatic stress disorder). When in doubt, please do not hesitate to ask a member of our staff and we will help you choose an experience according to your needs. For FREEROAM VR you need to be able to walk around the physical space and hold at least one controller.

Do I need to pay the booking fee?

No, this only applies to bookings made by the automated online booking process. If you wish to avoid that we recommend using the Live Chat (bottom right) to speak to a team member who will book you in. Bookings in store or via telephone are also not subject to a booking fee.

What is Minecraft & Coding Club

Minecraft & Coding Clubs are aimed at Children & Young People ages 6/7+ upto ages 17. We use Minecraft, MCreator, Block Bench, Unity to teach Game Design, Coding & Tech Skills on a termly programme these can be daytime, after-school, evening and weekend. Or as part of a Holiday Club programme.

What are the age limits?

We believe that VR is something that does not have age limits. We are able to find an experience suitable for almost any age. However, due to the size of the headset we do not usually recommend the experience for the customers younger than 7 years.
We do make exceptions about younger customers, however they should be accompanied by a parent/guardian throughout their booking. Please note, certain games have their own age recommendations. To find out more please visit our games page.

Do you serve food?

NO! None of our facilities have on-site food (apart from some pringles).  Most venues have canned drinks & water bottles for sale. For parties you are welcome to bring Cake but this is served within your timeslot. Package 3 has extra time and you are welcome to bring suitable food from external sources i.e. order in Pizza.

I wear prescription glasses. Can I enjoy the experience without taking them off?

Meta Quest 2 / 3, Pico 3 / 4 & HTC Vive we use in our venues fit most regular sized glasses. It is also adjustable, so you can adjust the lens distance and focus on making your virtual reality experience one of a kind.

Other customers are using your headsets. Is my headset going to be clean?

We take hygiene seriously. After every virtual reality session, we clean the equipment with anti-bacterial hopsital grade  wipes. We traded throughout Covid period so understand the need to be clean!

What is Alternative Provision

Player Ready Alternative Provision is term-time based educational and social  . emotional support service for children & young people not attending mainstream school, elective home educated, EOTAS or on reduce time tables. We use technology, gaming, Minecraft, Robotics, STEM to provide educational and supportive benefit to these young people.

What is Freeroam / HeroZone VR

Freeroam is typically a group form of Virtual Reality played on wireless headsets which allow free walking movement i.e. freeroaming in an arena space around 25-36sq meters. This freeroam allows you to walk around the virtual world as a team without teleporting or motion sickness inducing gliding. It also produces an experience you cannot replicate on a typical home headset as the freeroam software keeps your virtual character in sync with the real world space allowing close interactions within the world.
